Exploring Maryland Food

Farm to School builds connections to healthy, locally grown food, agriculture, and the farmers and watermen that are responsible for making that food available. Students build a greater appreciation for healthy food, when they learn where food comes from and have opportunities to taste new foods, grow gardens, meet farmers, and visit local farms. As a result of Farm to School, students feel empowered to make healthier choices and ask for fresh, local food at home.

Exploring Maryland Food Learning Resource
Exploring Maryland Food follows the major steps in the food system: Production, Processing, Distribution and Marketing,
Access and Consumption, and Food Waste Recovery. The goal is to examine the impact of agriculture and food production
on people, communities and the environment. This 5 module learning resource is aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards,
Environmental Literacy Standards, and Ag Literacy Outcomes for grades 3-5.
