Original Oats
- Buy old fashioned oats in a large container. It is cheaper than prepackaged, flavored oatmeal packets. Combine ½ cup oats and one cup water or milk; microwave for 2 minutes. Oatmeal can also be made on the stove. Make your own oatmeal flavor by adding cinnamon, honey, fresh or dried fruits, or nuts.
Save Morning Minutes
- Try overnight oats for a breakfast on the go. In a reusable food container, mix ½ teaspoon cinnamon, ½ cup of milk or low-fat yogurt with ½ cup of old-fashioned oats. Stir together, add your favorite fruit or nut topping, and store in the fridge overnight. Overnight oats can be consumed cold or heated in the morning.
Rollin’ Right Along
- Get the whole family rolling by making energy bites together. Mix together one cup oats, ½ cup peanut butter and ⅓ cup chocolate chips. Kids can roll the dough with their (washed!) hands into tablespoon-sized balls. Refrigerate in an airtight container for at least one hour.
