Role Modeling

Gardening for nutrition education provides opportunities for students to grow, prepare, and try new, healthy foods. Teachers and staff are looked at by students as role models. When students see teachers and staff practice what they preach, they want to follow along. Get started by drinking water in front of your students and talking about the healthy foods you packed for lunch. Spend time in the school garden with students and discuss how working in the garden is a great way to be active.
